P-51 D High Resolution cockpit wingview for European Air War.

(Generic readme for bare metal, metal stripes, olive drab and olive drab stripes versions.)

This cockpit wingview is a further development of the improved cockpit wingviews. It uses a similar 3dz shape - only a few points have been added, but all the textures have been remapped to use a single 256 x 256 file for both wings, which gives the best resolution yet.

I tried to do this years ago and couldn't get it to work, but after seing the way Claudio Wilches had done it with his Bf 109 wingviews, I soon found what I had been missing, and came up with this wingview. I've done 3 different pp51du.3dz's and I think this one looks the best.

A big thankyou to Jeff Salter, for providing the superb textures for the wings. After emailing Jeff for advice, he showed me some of his PCX work and it made mine look very lame in comparison, so I re mapped the 3dz to suit his wingshapes and adopted the PCX's that he made specially for this project. Thanks to Claudio for showing the way, and to Alessandro Borges for his amazing 3DZ Studio, which made this all possible.

To use it, simply drop the .3dz and .tpc files into your EAW folder, to uninstall, just delete the files.

Pp51du.3dz 3dz for the new texture mapping
Pp51dwng.pcx Pcx file for the new 3DZ
Pp51dwng.tpc Tpc file for the new 3DZ

Feel free to use this work in your own aircraft, just give a little credit to Salty and myself - that's all we ask. Enjoy!
